LITTLE SPOON

BY ALISSA SMITH

AHWA FLASH FICTION COMPETITION WINNER 2019

I

love being the ‘little spoon’. Nestled against Christopher’s body with his arm hooked over my waist. His firm pecs touch my bare back and his rock-hard thighs press against my buttocks. His fingers form a perfect cup around my left breast.

I whisper sweet words to Christopher. He is quiet in his slumber, but I’m not discouraged. He’s a wonderful companion. I’m content in his arms.

Our first encounter has been sensational. Shedding my clothes, layer by layer, in a slow and titillating performance. The excitement of seeing Christopher’s nakedness; the contours of his physique illuminated by the pale light.

We’ve been lying here for almost an hour. The room is cold and there’s only a thin sheet over our bodies. I can’t fall asleep. Shouldn’t fall asleep. I must get up now.

With as little disturbance as possible, I slip smoothly from under Christopher’s arm. It’s like a dead weight. His body shifts slightly as I stand, but his eyes remain closed. In the dim light, his face looks peaceful.

Shivering from the cold, I pick up my pile of work clothes and get dressed quickly. Then I wander the rows of small drawers, searching for my next undertaking. Here: this is the one.

I open the small stainless steel door. The toe-tag says his name was Brad.
